Things to Talk About – April 6th

Division 6 had fun making Paper Mache Easter Eggs!  What fun!

Here are the eggs before they were decorated:

Easter Egg Hunting was GREAT!

The students all had the opportunity to participate in an Easter hunt on Thursday. They had to search for toothpicks in an area which was surrounded by pylons.  It was quite a site to see – all these students searching for little toothpicks.  They could also win a special prize if they found one of the “special” items.  Once all the toothpicks and special prizes were gathered, students brought them back to the classroom where the items were counted.  At the end of the day, each classroom received a bag of Easter treats.  What a great time! Here are some pictures of the event.

Division 4, 5, 6 & 7 Presented their 100 Minutes of Genius Projects

Each term, these classes have the chance to learn about whatever they want for 100 minutes.  At the end of the 100 minutes, they present what they learned about to the class.  The students are always very enthusiastic while completing these projects of their choice. They work really hard on these projects. Their topics are always interesting and engaging for their fellow students (and teacher).  Students in Division 6 and 7 were required to do their projects on a French topic – either in French or about something French (this is a French class, afterall).  Here are some photos of their work:

The students could present their learning in any way they wanted. Many of the students completed posters, but many of them used some form of technology to represent their learning.  Many students used the iPads to make iBooks.  Margarent and Erica used a website to make a Prezi to demonstrate their learning.  Here is a picture of one of the parts of their Prezi:

Stay tuned for more photos of the projects from Division 5 & 6.

The students at Bear Creek are focused and working hard!

You should be very proud of them! We sure are!

Here is a project from Mr. Wong’s Grade 2 class where the students have been learning about dinosaurs.  You can see how hard they are working by looking at the quality of their work.

We hope you enjoyed sharing some of our work and adventures this week.
